Tourist Taxi by Green Earth Trails

Well maintained, owner operated vehicles for Kerala and South India travel. For guests who want to book their own hotels and need a reliable cab to take them there.

Some guests arrive in Kerala knowing exactly where they want to stay. They have researched the properties, read the reviews, and made their bookings on Booking.com or directly with the hotels. What they need is a reliable, well-maintained vehicle with an experienced driver to connect the journey between those stays. That is exactly what Green Earth Trails tourist taxi service is designed for.

We are a licensed, Ministry of Tourism accredited Kerala tour operator. Our vehicles are the same ones we use for our own fully-programmed guest tours. When availability permits, we make them available for cab-only bookings for guests who prefer to manage their accommodation independently.

Our vehicles

Kia Carens luxury cab for Kerala tour by Green Earth Trails

Kia Carens – our primary vehicle for couples and small groups of up to five passengers. Spacious, comfortable, fuel efficient and well suited to Kerala’s mountain roads. Air-conditioned with generous luggage space.

Tata Winger — our larger van for groups of up to seven passengers. Taller interior than a standard SUV, excellent luggage capacity, and well suited to longer interstate runs.

Beyond our own fleet, we work with a personally vetted network of vehicles and drivers for larger groups and specialist requirements. Every vehicle in this network has been inspected by us and every driver is someone we know personally. The extended network includes Toyota Innova Crysta, Toyota Hycross, Suzuki Ertiga, and premium Urbania vans for larger groups requiring more comfort on longer journeys.

We do not aggregate from unknown vendors. If we put a vehicle in front of you, we know that vehicle and we know the person driving it.

Based near Cochin airport

Our garage is located close to Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery, Athani. This makes airport pickup and drop the simplest and most cost-effective starting point for any program. Pickups from locations outside Kochi are possible and we will calculate the running kilometres to your pickup point transparently when quoting.

What makes our cabs different

Our own vehicles are company-maintained. They are not rented from an aggregator or sourced from whoever is available that day. They are cleaned, serviced and inspected regularly. The vehicles you see in our photographs are the vehicles that arrive.

Our drivers are on payroll. Our own drivers are employed by Green Earth Trails, not contractors hired per trip. They have worked with us for years, they know Kerala well, they are experienced with international guests and they understand that safety, punctuality and comfort are not negotiable.

We are trusted for solo women travellers and all-women groups. Green Earth Trails has a specific reputation for safe, well-organised travel for solo women and women-only groups from the UK, France, Ireland and Australia. This did not happen by accident. It reflects the quality and reliability of our drivers and the way we operate. If you are a solo woman traveller or organising a women-only group trip to Kerala, our track record speaks for itself.

How the service works

Our tourist taxi service works best when you have a clear itinerary in mind, even if it is flexible. The typical guest using this service has booked their hotels online and needs a vehicle and driver to connect the journey between them. You travel at your own pace, stop where you want, and your driver handles the road.

For multi-day programs, taxis operate on a daily rate with a minimum of 100 kilometres per day included. Days that exceed this distance are charged per additional kilometre at a rate agreed upfront. There are no hidden charges.

Booking guidelines

To get a quote, send us the following:

Dates — your arrival and departure dates and the dates you need the vehicle.

Pickup point — where you need the vehicle to collect you. Cochin airport is the simplest starting point.

Drop point — your final destination or departure airport at the end of the program.

Group size — the number of passengers and an idea of your luggage. This determines the right vehicle.

Sketch itinerary — even a rough outline of where you want to go. Kochi to Munnar to Thekkady to Alleppey, for example. We will advise on routing, distances and timing.

We will respond with a transparent quote covering the vehicle, daily rate, estimated total kilometres and any applicable extras.

Payment

We accept international payments including credit card, wire transfer to our foreign currency accounts, and other international payment options. A deposit is collected at the time of booking confirmation.

Hiring guidelines

A few practical points that apply to all Green Earth Trails vehicle hires:

Seat belts must be worn by all passengers throughout the journey. Children should not be seated in the front seat.

Food, drinks, alcohol and smoking are not permitted inside the vehicle.

If you are prone to motion sickness on Kerala’s winding mountain roads, ask your driver for a vomiting bag at the start of the journey. They carry them. The roads between Kochi and Munnar and the ghats around Thekkady involve significant curves and altitude gain.

After beach or waterfall visits, please ensure all passengers are dry and free of sand before re-entering the vehicle. This protects the seats and flooring.

The taxi is not available for off-road driving.

Hotels and resorts are expected to provide parking and restroom facilities for drivers. Where this is unavailable, the cost of nearby facilities may be applicable to the guest.

The taxi operator and driver are not responsible for delays or itinerary changes arising from circumstances outside their control, including weather, road conditions, natural events or political situations.
