Ever noticed how travel just kinda gets under your skin? It's like a whole new world opens up, filled with exciting experiences and unexpected encounters. We've heard countless stories from our guests about their adventures in Kerala and South India – those little moments of cultural exchange that make their trip truly special.
Lonie and Werner recently toured Kerala and Madurai with us, and Lonie was an absolute gem! She was eager to soak up everything new and different, which is what we believe makes a journey truly rewarding. You gain fresh perspectives, learn from history, architecture, and the people you meet along the way.
And guess what? Our guides and activity providers loved having Lonie and Werner around! They were so impressed with their enthusiasm and curiosity.
But here's the real kicker: while in Madurai, Lonie and Werner had a heartwarming encounter with a young Tamil girl. Now, we've seen tourists get asked for photos, but this girl wanted to chat! She was a little shy, but she bravely struck up a conversation in English, asking Lonie and Werner all sorts of questions.
She even asked them why it's important to learn English, to which Lonie gave the sweetest reply: "So you can talk to me and people from other countries."
Her next question was for Werner: what are the monuments in your country? It seemed like a simple question, but it momentarily stumped Werner. He ended up telling her about kangaroos, a classic icon of Australia.
This little interaction got us thinking about how diverse India really is, with its countless languages and dialects. For some context, India has around 22 official languages, 121 native languages and 270 mother tongues. English has become a bridge connecting us all, allowing us to communicate with people from all corners of the globe.
Anyway, we thought this story was too good not to share! It's a reminder that travel is all about those unexpected connections and the joy of discovering new cultures.
A very special thank you to Siva, Lonie's guide in Madurai, who took the effort to spontaneously capture this video. We had made a video about Madurai in the past with Siva narrating the history of this ancient temple town.
Thank you Lonie for leaving this wonderful review for us, we hope more people like you travel with us, which is like an inspiration for us to continue the work we are doing.
