Destinations

Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and the Lakshadweep Islands. Four distinct geographies, each with its own culture, landscape and reason to travel. Every program we design is rooted in deep local knowledge of these places.

Where we operate

Four regions. One seamless journey.

Our programs span the full length and breadth of South India and extend out into the Arabian Sea. Kerala is our home territory and deepest expertise. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Lakshadweep extend that into landscapes and histories that are entirely different from Kerala but equally rewarding.

South India · Western Coast

Kerala

Western Ghats, backwaters, coast and the most biodiverse landscapes in South India.

Kerala is our home. Years of programs across tea estates, wildlife sanctuaries, backwater channels and coastal fishing villages give us a depth of knowledge that no guidebook can replicate.

  • Munnar tea estates and Western Ghats trekking
  • Thekkady wildlife and Periyar National Park
  • Alleppey houseboat and backwater circuits
  • Fort Kochi heritage and colonial history
  • Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode and the Malabar coast

South India · Eastern Coast

Tamil Nadu

Thousand-year-old temples, Dravidian architecture, Chettinad heritage and the French colony of Pondicherry.

Tamil Nadu is a destination of extraordinary depth. The Chola temple towns, the monolithic sculptures at Mahabalipuram and the colonial layers of Pondicherry reward a journey of their own.

  • Madurai and the Meenakshi Amman Temple
  • Thanjavur and the Chola temple circuit
  • Mahabalipuram shore temple and rock sculptures
  • French colonial quarter of Pondicherry
  • Chettinad palatial mansions and cuisine

South India · Deccan Plateau

Karnataka

Hoysala temples, the ruins of Hampi, Coorg coffee estates and Kabini wildlife corridors.

The 12th century Hoysala temples at Belur and Halebidu, the extraordinary boulder landscape of Hampi by the Tungabhadra river and the wildlife of Kabini make Karnataka a compelling addition to any South India program.

  • Hampi ruins and Vijayanagara Empire heritage
  • Hoysala temples at Belur and Halebidu
  • Coorg coffee and spice estates
  • Kabini wildlife and elephant corridors
  • Mysore palace and heritage

Arabian Sea · Union Territory

Lakshadweep

Some of the most untouched coral reef and island landscapes left on the planet.

Four hundred and fifty kilometres west of Kerala in the Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep is India's smallest union territory. Bangaram and Thinnakara islands offer a level of reef and lagoon beauty that most travellers never know exists in India.

  • Bangaram Island - Taj SeleQtions coral atoll resort
  • Thinnakara Island - tented beach camp on the reef
  • One hour by air from Kochi to Agatti
  • Snorkelling, diving and kayaking in the lagoon
  • Entry permit required - arranged by Green Earth Trails
