Our story

Seventeen years of learning South India. One company built from it.

My name is Benjamin John. I have worked in South India travel since 2008, across several roles in the industry: tour operations, eco lodge management, property marketing, and destination consulting. Every one of those years added something to my understanding of what makes travel in this part of the world genuinely meaningful.

Green Earth Trails was founded in 2017, as the expression of everything I had built up over that decade. The company was small by design. We went through the Covid pause along with the rest of the travel world. Coming out the other side, the clarity was sharper: stay small, stay personal, do fewer things better.

Today, Benjamin and Jenneya run Green Earth Trails together, with a small team of experienced drivers who have worked with international guests for years. We are not trying to grow into a large agency. We are trying to give every guest an experience worth travelling this far for.

How we work

Private programs. No shared groups. No booking platforms.

Every Green Earth Trails program is fully private. You will not share your vehicle, your driver or your accommodation with another group. Your itinerary is built around your specific travel dates, your pace and your interests. We do not run fixed-departure buses or sell seats on shared tours.

We operate our own fleet: two Kia Carens for couples and small groups, and a Tata Winger van for larger parties. All vehicles are air-conditioned with generous luggage space. The same driver accompanies you from airport arrival to final departure. That consistency matters when you are travelling far from home in an unfamiliar country.

Every property we recommend is personally known to us. We do not work from a bulk accommodation catalogue or an online booking engine. When we suggest a place to stay, it is because we know it, we trust it, and we believe it suits you.

Who travels with us

Designed for the international traveller who wants something real.

Our guests come from the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, the United States, Australia and beyond. Most are experienced travellers who have already seen Southeast Asia or the Mediterranean and are looking for something more layered in South Asia. They want to engage with Kerala and South India, not simply pass through it.

We are experienced across cycling tours, birding programs, heritage journeys, backwater experiences, wildlife safaris and high-altitude trekking in the Western Ghats. We also design longer South India itineraries that extend into Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Every program starts with a conversation about what you actually want from the journey.
